Requirements:
-------------
In order to run, this program needs the following:
- Kickstart / Workbench 2.04 (or higher)
- ReqTools.library ( (c) Nico Francois)
- an assign to "t:"
- the command "c:execute"
Installation:
-------------
Simple. Just copy the program to your WBStartup-drawer and the
configuration-file to your ENVARC: -assign. Afterwards you'll have
to change the config-file (using a normal editor) in order to fit it
to your needs. Then you should reboot your Amiga to use the program.
Included in this archive are two versions of the program. One is called
"o_s-b2_01s" and the other one is called "o_s-b2_01s-nolib". If you have
"AMOS.library" (Version >= 2.0) installed in your LIBS:-drawer, you may
use the "-nolib"-version (it will save some bytes on your hd), if you
don't have "AMOS.library" you'll have to use the bigger version.
The configuration-file:
-----------------------
The usage of the configuration-file is to tell o_s-b which programs
can be loaded and how.
You can define groups, program-titles, the program-path and the
cli/shell-command to load the program. o_s-b reads through the
configuration-file from top to bottom and so programs will always be
added to the last defined group.
!! It is not allowed to add programs without defining a group !!
!! before, so you'll always have to create at least one group !!
A valid line starts with one of the following commands (all other lines
are ignored and can be used for comments):
":" - this shows o_s-b that a new group should be defined
">" - this tells o_s-b the name of the new program
"!" - this is the cli/shell-command that will launch the program
(note: this command always refers to the last given name)
"#" - this tells o_s-b in which directory it should change
(note: this command always refers to the last given name)
Following to the command is the parameter, for example the name of the
new group or the program-name.
To get an idea how the configuration-file works, just have a look at the
example in this distribution.
Since version 2.02 you can also tell o_s-b the Workbench-Screen-hight.
This is useful if you have a WB-resolution different to 640*256 because
in this case o_s-b (up to version 2.01) did either not start or it
displayed the button somewhere in the middle of the screen. To tell
o_s-b the height of your WB-Screen you'll have to insert the following
command before all other commands (!) in the prefs-file:
ScreenHight=xyz
where xyz is the number of vertical lines of your screen (the default
is 256 (for HiRes-PAL-Screens)). This command is NOT case-sensitive.
Usage:
------
After you installed the program properly (see Installation) and after
you rebooted your Amiga, you shold see a small "Start"-button at the
left bottom of your screen. If you click on it once, a bigger window will
appear with two lists in it. The list on the left side shows you all
the groups you defined in the config-file and the list on the right side
shows you all programs for the current group. At the bottom of the
left list, you will also see the entries "About" (which will display
some informations), "Close" (which will close the big window) and
"Quit" (which will exit the program). To change the current group, just
click on an entry from the left list, the right list will change and you
can load a program from it by clicking it once.
Some informations:
------------------
This program was written using:
- AmosPRO & AmosPro-Compiler, both (c) Europress Software Ltd.
- AMIPS V1.04, (c) by The Software Society
This program uses:
- ReqTools.Library, (c) by Nico Francois
History:
--------
V1.00 - * initial version
V2.00 - * complete rework of the program
* name changed from TaskBar to oLIVER'S_sTART-bUTTON because
the name TaskBar was already used from another author for
his program
* directory-changes are now possible
V2.01 - * on program-startup the window is no longer activated
(nasty "bug", because WorkBench was therefore inactive
on startup, when o_s-b was placed in WBStartup)
V2.02 - * o_s-b will now work properly on Workbench-screens with
resolutions different to 640*256
